Why You Should Call a Professional to Detect a Water Pipe Leak

2 Mins read

If you suspect that you might have a water pipe leak somewhere on your property, then would advise that you call a professional immediately. The trouble is, that you can spend an awful lot of time and effort trying to track a leak down to no avail, so it is definitely worth seeking professional help with the correct equipment and the know-how to boot.

And by professional, we don’t mean plumber. Plumbers are well-versed in repairing leaks but finding the source of the issue without the correct equipment might prove tricky! For example, if you call a plumber out, and they search your property from top to bottom and come up short, then you’re going to have to call a professional to detect a water pipe leak (which could be outside the property), so you just as well call them first.

How to tell if you have a water pipe leak

One of the biggest tell-tale signs of having a water pipe leak is a significant fluctuation in your water utility bills. Generally, your bills shouldn’t change all that much from month to month (unless of course you’ve had a family member, or some friends come to stay with you). However, if you notice a significant rise and you’ve checked to confirm that you water company haven’t put their rates up; then it’s a clear sign that you have a leak.

Another clear sign of a potential leaking is a build-up of dampness and mould in a certain room. If you keep the house well-ventilated, and yet you’re still getting damp-spots in a particular area, then it’s likely that you’ve got a burst pipe. If that is the case, you must alleviate the issue before the mould can spread enough to start causing you and your family any health problems.

Sometimes, a leak can be subtler and take longer to spot. Perhaps you’ve noticed a slight drop in water pressure when you take a shower or run the faucets in your kitchen; this could ultimately mean that there is a leak somewhere on your property.

Why is it so important to find and fix a leak as soon as you suspect it?

First of all, if you have your suspicions then it’s important to rule a leak out as soon as possible. If you fail to do this, there can be catastrophic (and expensive) consequences. For example, a build up of water in your property can do terrible damage to its structural integrity. Should you have your suspicions, then you should check out a reputable and reliable company. There are plenty of companies and dedicated specialists out there who can find a leak in record time whether it inside your property or underground in your garden! – Don’t leave any room for doubt!
